What is Carnival?
The oldest records of Carnival date back to 1294, when Charles Anjou, Count of Provence, wrote that he had spent "the joyful days of Carnival." This perhaps makes the Nice Carnival the original celebration.
After many years, it has become a worldwide festival, but it is in France that it is most special.
This year, the Buis festival took place on March 28th.
As the photo shows, all the children from the Buis schools and a few other people dressed up.
Fun fact: previously, only elementary and kindergarten students participated, but a few years ago, middle school students wanted to participate and, after some negotiations with the teachers, they were finally allowed to participate.
